Well the deities found it fitting to punish him by turning the one thing he loved to do a lot against him. He sounded miserable from what I can recall but that was such a while back.

It's really the only way, here. Most criminals go into hiding as is. I've worked on plenty of cases to know that. They aren't missed when they disappear.

And cleanup...that's even more important. If we put out a display there's no doubt we'd be caught.
